Hayleys FentonsIT (FIT) is proud to announce the successful deployment of a next-generation Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) platform for The New Army Headquarters in Akuregoda, Battaramulla, delivering enhanced availability, scalability, and disaster recovery capabilities.
The project involved the design and implementation of a 5-node HCI cluster architecture across two geographically separated data centers, creating a highly resilient infrastructure foundation designed to support continuous operations.
The solution was strategically engineered with dedicated Primary (PR) and Disaster Recovery (DR) clusters, enabling seamless replication between sites and strengthening business continuity capabilities. Both locations were further equipped with dedicated backup appliances, establishing a robust data protection framework aligned with modern enterprise requirements.
A key milestone of this transformation was the successful migration of existing virtual machines from the legacy HCI environment to the new enterprise-grade HCI platform. The transition was executed with minimal service interruption, ensuring operational continuity while modernising the underlying infrastructure.
The deployment included:
• Dual-site HCI architecture with geo-redundancy
• Active replication between Primary and Disaster Recovery environments
• Huawei OceanProtect backup infrastructure integration
• Advanced replication powered by Huawei UltraVR, enabling near-zero RPO capabilities
• Optimised workload mobility with minimal downtime
• Enhanced recovery and data protection workflows
The highlight of this implementation was the successful completion of a live HCI version upgrade with zero downtime, ensuring uninterrupted operations within a mission-critical environment.
