Before implementing renewable energy projects, comprehensive environmental assessments were conducted under a dedicated procedure covering site selection, planning, execution, closure, and post-project monitoring. Findings were presented to top management to support informed decisions on project viability and measures to minimise environmental impacts.
A multidisciplinary team of engineering, environmental, and sustainability professionals assessed technical feasibility, regulatory compliance, biodiversity, and social considerations. Detailed site visits established environmental baselines through habitat assessments, flora and fauna identification, drone surveys, measurements, photographs, and standardised field records. Species were classified according to the National Red List to identify conservation priorities, while quality assurance procedures supported data reliability and consistency.
Stakeholder engagement provided insights into local livelihoods, land use, and community concerns. These inputs supported the identification of sensitive areas, evaluation of potential impacts, and development of mitigation measures. Despite challenging weather, terrain, and wildlife-related risks, fieldwork maintained a strong focus on safety and environmental protection.
Continuous monitoring and review enabled lessons learned to improve future assessments. This integrated approach demonstrated the role of the ESG and Compliance function in supporting environmentally responsible, socially considerate, and technically viable renewable energy development.
